From Abstract to Mainstream

The internet is commonly shown on computer network diagrams as a cloud.  That simple abstract conceals the web’s complex infrastructure suggesting something that is always forming and changing shape.

The term “cloud computing” refers to the “anytime, anywhere, any device” access to applications and data that is possible today, enabled by the ever-changing “cloud.”

The term “cloud recruiting” is not meant to mean one thing for geek-recruiters and another for industry vendors and sloganeers. It refers to how recruiters can be better served by today’s technology and its application, truly a derivative of cloud computing. It’s as simple as that.

So, if cloud recruiting refers to “Anytime, Anywhere, Any Device” access and its application to the work of finding, attracting, hiring and retaining workers online, this glossary of terms is intended to help define the language that adds to our understanding of how it all works.
