Each year SourceCon brings together the industry’s leadership with top sourcing and researcher talent. It’s a time for networking, sharing, learning, and building community.

Known for working at the cusp of recruiting best-practice and emerging technologies, and among the very best SourceCon speakers in 2008, Michael Marlatt knows what’s what. A natural communicator and teacher, Michael connects people and concepts in new and interesting ways.

If you just want to download the presentation that Michael first delivered to the recruiting industry, you’ve come to the right place: Download »

ATLANTA, GA – It’s official: Michael Marlatt launches CloudRecruiting.net.

This project is a few years in the making but surfaced in its current form at the recent SourceCon 2008 conference where Michael was one of the top-ranked speakers.

It became apparent after SourceCon that if Michael was to do justice to all the questions being asked about his presentation — Beyond Recruiting 2.0: The Emergence of Cloud Recruiting — and to satisfy all of the requests for more “cool stuff,” he would need a site to keep everyone happy.

More than advocating a better understanding and use of web 2.0 applications for recruiters, the site seeks to chronicle and archive important information as it relates to Cloud Recruiting. “Cloud Recruiting” is the term Michael used to describe the convergence of “cloud computing” and recruiter best-practice.

Over time the intention is for the site to serve as a research tool and reference. The blog, where relevant nuggets are posted, is intended as a forum for those who share Michael’s passion — or take a different point of view — and is as good a place as any to get started.

Enjoy!

SourceCon is known for dynamic speakers and this year was no exception! As predicted, Gerry Crispin, Otis Collier and well… all the speakers in attendance rocked the house. Well, I suppose that was to be expected. I mean, who invites you to speak if you can’t deliver? Well, I want to shine some light on someone I think is an up and coming star – Michael Marlatt.

Well, SourceCon has come and gone – those who attended say it was well worth the anticipation and the cost!

This issue is dedicated to some thoughts on SourceCon, as well as a couple of hat-tips to some of the tremendous sessions that were presented. We were able to capture the thoughts of some attendees as well as get an in-depth explanation of one of the presentations. Enjoy this issue of The Source, and please pass it on to anyone you know who should have been there!

There are most likely several posts of overviews of the conference, and please also stay tuned for the September issue of The Source for some additional thoughts on it, so I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight my favorite session from the event – Michael Marlatt’s presentation of Web 2.0 technology in recruiting, Sourcing Beyond Recruiting 2.0. I enjoyed so many sessions, but this particular topic is near and dear to my heart because I use so many of the types of tools Michael laid out in my every day function.
